Car Museums in Gothenburg

The history of car manufacturing in Gothenburg is long and stretches back to the early 1900s when Volvo was founded. A large part of this fascinating automotive history is on display at car museums in and around Gothenburg.

World of Volvo

Today, Volvo is two separate companies: Volvo Cars, which manufactures cars, and AB Volvo, which manufactures trucks, buses, excavators, and more. Together, the two companies have started World of Volvo, a Volvo museum in central Gothenburg. Here, they showcase their history in an interactive exhibition for the whole family. SAAB Museum in Trollhättan

An hour north of Gothenburg lies Trollhättan, where SAAB was manufactured until 2011. After SAAB’s demise, a large part of the cars were kept in an impressive collection in a beautiful location. Tovek’s Car Museum in Kinna

In Kinna, 50 minutes from Gothenburg, on the ground floor of a Volkswagen dealership, there is a car museum with both VW cars and other cars from the 1940s onwards.
